I'm not new to the fitness world at all, but I've never been able to make it stick. I'm not sure if it's just pure bad luck or just not meant to be, but whenever I get into a routine and start actually making progress, something happens. Whether it's a busted ankle, emergency trips across the country, some sort of illness that sets be back a few months, you name it. I've only been able to stick to a solid routine and diet for no more than 5 months at a time. The lowest I've got to is 204lbs but I quickly gained it all back in a month. Now I'm back up to 230lbs. So now I'm here trying to finally get some results and any help would be greatly appreciated. Tips rules any my thing really.

Adjust according to your present lifestyle. Don't make anymore excuses. Luck has nothing to do with it. I've been injured 2x since getting healthy. I didn't let it stop me either time. All it meant was I had to cut back on the calories since I couldn't work out as hard and look for exercises I could safely do. Adapting is important to lose and maintain.

You're right they are excuses. I didn't really know how to exercise with a busted ankle. I'm not new to fitness but I certainly have a lot more to learn.

Although injuring onself, getting sick or traveling to far away places can be quite daunting, I usually see them as extra hurdles on the fitness track. One has to overcome them with a new work out routine that does not affect the injured part of your body or just adjusting to the situation (sickness) or the location. I'm sure you'll make it!

Let's start with basic stats. You're male, 23 years old. How tall are you, how much do you weigh, and what's your rough daily activity level (sedentary, lightly active, active, very active)? What's your goal weight? We can plug in your numbers and see if the 1700 you're getting is right. :)

Actually it was 1500 I was wrong. But that's even lower! I'm 5 10 and weigh 226 lbs. I'm usually active, but ever since my ankle incident I've been barely doing anything. A few upper body workouts here and there but nothing too intense. My ankle is 90% healed now I'd say.

Bench:195 these numbers are before I hurt my ankle I'm sure they are a lot less now
    Dead: 345
    Squat: 285
