So, i just bought a heart rate monitor and it's working great. It automatically decided a workout range of my heart rate between 130 and 170. I'm 20 years old, 5"3', female and weigh 68kg right now.. about that anyway.

I'm wondering what heart rate i should try to be at , now that i can monitor it, to lose fat and burn calories. I also want to improve my endurance of course, but that's not the main goal. I know it's always about percentages of max heart rate or something.. but is there anyone out there who can just tell me in what heart rate zone i should be for fat burn, given my characteristics?

Generally, you want to be at 65-70% of max heart rate for fat burn.

Lookup the Karvonen formula to get a good way to calculate your target heart rate.

Just be careful about what you use for Maximum Heart Rate to calculate target heart rate. While 220-age can be a good estimate, it can also be quite inaccurate. I know mine is off by 7-8 bpm and a friend of mine is closer to 15 beats off. This can have a big impact on what your training zones are.
