Struggling with binge eating?

Hi all,
I've lost and gained weight many, many times throughout the past few years. I know how it's done, I know what needs to be done, and I know that if I could just stop being the way I am, I would. But struggling with binge eating complicates the whole process because a lot of the time, I turn to food to fill some sort of emotional void. Instead of letting myself feel, I eat. Instead of confronting my emotions, I fill the void with food, food, and more food. That's why every time I've lost weight, I've just gained it back and began again at square one.
But not this time. It's 2015, and I may have just left the worst year of my life behind, so it's time to start anew. No more excuses, no more letting myself be held by by my past and my perceived failures. This time, I'm really confident that I'm not only going to lose the weight but I'm going to beat this too. I'd love to have friends along the way who have a similar experience and struggles with binge eating.

Hello! Hope you are doing great! Well, I was diagnosed with and ED and now I'm almost fully recovered!
Anyway, I'm having some problems with binge eating, especially at mornings. My house is full of chocolates and may traits, so I lose myself and just eat everything :-(((
I'd love to talk to someone who understand this horrible feeling of uncontrol and desperation :-)0 -
OP you just describe me so well, i was a emotional eater 100%, I can only give you my humble opinion and tell you that binge eating is a issue that can only be treat A DAY AT A TIME!, they're gonna be good days and not so good days, but eventually you are gonna get better, and will power or habit are gonna prevent to more frequently binges to happen.
what i have found that works for me it may sound silly but is to talk to my self like really it only takes me 5 seconds to ask me questions like are you really hungry? do eating that are going to solve my problems or put me closer to your goal? and so on, because really for me i got in a state of food amnesia, all i would remember is the before the binge and the after and not the while , when was shoving food to my mouth.
many people use post tick and write stuff and put it the fridge and that helps them, i have pictures in my cell of people who have succeed in their weight loss and now have amazing body and that inspire me a lot.
don't give up, find what works for and be patience and remind your self daily why you want this. and if binges happen don't take it as a excuse like oh well it's all screwed up, there is always a another fresh day to start and not make the same mistakes.
Good luck.0 -
May I suggest a book called OVERCOMING OVEREATING by Hirschmann and Munter. It has some radical solutions for people who are prone to bingeing. At first I didn't understand the advice, which basically involves surrounding yourself with lots of the food that makes you binge the most, until you stop eating it all because you realize there is always more of it, you can always go get more and you don't have to eat it all. As I said, this is radical and some people would not respond well to this tactic, but it totally helped me stop binge behavior. Good luck and don't give up, you can solve this problem.
One other trick: when you feel a binge coming on, interrupt yourself. Get up, go outside,, go do a tiny bit of physical activity like a brisk six-block walk. This may give you enough time to stop yourself.0 -
Hey I'm new to this and really could use some support also. I'm 22 years old, 5ft tall and I weigh 185lbs. My house is stacked with snacks and treats and it's so hard to resist them all. Mom brought home 5 of my favorite cupcakes and they're screaming at me from the fridge lol. I hope to be 150 lbs and I just want to see results already but anytime I see something I like, I feel like I need to eat it. We'll I just wanted to introduce myself feel free to talk to me0
