Newbie - First Week

Hello everyone,
I just joined over a week ago, the whole MFP is totally alien to me along with the terminology and apps etc . iv never before really tried or needed to lose weight but from what I have seen so far this really looks like a good way for me to try. I have gained about 3 stone over the last 3 years and i think its partly due to the fact that after being diagnosed with lung diesease, I have become less and less active . I used to be able to eat what I wanted within reason but no longer able to do so,
Any tips or advice for a newbie would be greatly appreciated

  • I hear you!! :D This is the first time in all of my 44 years that I have tried to diet/get healthy! If you would like, add me as a friend and we can encourage each other along the way...I sometimes have trouble navigating through the lingo too!
  • Welcome :) I've been following MFP since October 2014! It's a great resource for so many things, have a look at the boards. My best tip to tell you at the start would be to make sure you log everything you put in your mouth- it takes some time to get started but it makes you accountable for your food/drink choices :) Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the tip I did record everything ( I hope :) last week but really need to invest in scales etc as i have been trying to estimate a lot of things. It looks like a really good way to monitor everything as I havent really had to before. Good luck to you too, and thanks,
