Struggling with Anorexia, asking for support

Hello, I'm a recovering anorexic. I am having a very difficult time lately though. I have been in recovery for almost ten years, but struggle daily with my self image. About a year ago POTS onset, and to keep my symptoms in check I have to eat every two hours, drink 5 liters of water, and to top it all off, the tachycardia makes it damn near impossible to even get out of bed some days. I've gained about twenty pounds and needless to say its harder than ever to fight off the thoughts. I want to be healthy, I want to like myself. But my BMI is now 25.1, which counts as overweight, and sounds petty, but to a struggling recovering anorexic that is devastating. I'm afraid to count calories because I don't know if I'm strong enough to stop when I need to. I exercise when I can (minding the pre-syncope), and always try to take the stairs (despite panting when I get halfway up). I am looking for support on the dietary side of things as well as words from those who have overcome a similar situation.

Do you have a therapist/counselor? A trusted doctor? A close friend or family member? It may be time to reach out to them.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with these problems. My ex girlfriend struggled with anorexia and bulimia for a while until she went to rehab and got help. She's been in recovery now for over a year and deals with the same self image issues as well. I was there for her through many of her breakdowns and through many of her accomplishments. She has a nutritionist that writes her up a meal plan based on how her weight has increased or decreased. If you haven't talked to a nutritionist yet, I would recommend doing so. It's important to incorporate all of your macronutrients in each of your 3 main meals (proteins, fats, carbohydrates). You're not alone with this! I hope this helped.

Focus more on how you look and feel. Your health is more important than anything. You need to be a healthy weight. Work on getting healthy first, both physically and mentally. once you are more stable then you can work on other fitness/weight goals. But what ever you do don't be afraid to eat. Find out what is a healthy diet and weight for a woman your height/weight and follow that. Try to find women here that are your height/weight/age and use them as support. Good luck
