I'm doing P90X3 at the moment, and honestly? I'm not logging anything.
I did P90X several months ago and since that is primarily weights & reps based, I did log everything to track the (small) improvements I was making. However, I found that I never really referred to my notes at the time, since I had a pretty god idea of where I was and how well I was doing. Sometimes you just have a rough day and can't quite pull out that extra couple of reps to beat last week's performance; or, you're feeling good and you bust through your own personal record.
But, since P90X3 is a lot less about counting and improving reps & weights (although there is a little of that), I don't think it matters nearly as much. Routines like MMX, Pliates X, Yoga X, CVX, etc. never prompt you to take notes (and what would you write?) - I think they're just generally far more about improving overall performance, which you should be able to feel. For example, I did Yoga this morning and I could almost get into Ted's version of Ted's Chair.
Generally I'm a little bit 'meh' with responses like 'All that matters is how you feel' - I want numbers, damnit! - but for the majority of P90X3 routines, I think that's the best indicator.
But by all means, if you think it helps, I would recommend definitely making notes of your weights and reps on routines like Eccentric Upper/Incinerator/Warrior/Challenge, and on others making notes with regards to your performance and, particularly with the more YOga-y ones, how well you did with your posture, pose and flexibility. A good measurement for me is how well I can stretch my legs (very short hamstrings).0 -
You could log the strength sessions under strength training and the cardio under circuit training... Or use the p90x3 calorie calculations so you don't have to log exercise, or a TDEE calculation like scooby?0

I did p90x3 and kept track of exercises on a calendar and kept track of calories on my fitness pal. P90x3 comes with a calendar, and I kept a separate one which kept me honest, or on track after I had missed a couple days. Now I want to go back and do some of the exercises out of order and want to do the same thing-- not subtract my calories burned and simply maintain a steady calorie goal every day like he recommends, but I would like a consolidated way of seeing that I did an exercise one day and full month view of what I have done, without the exercises adding in more calories to my overall goal.
I know I can write exercise notes under each day, but I'd like a better view.
Any ideas? Thank you!0 -
Do you mean logging the burned calories on MFP? I wear a HRM to determine my burn. I added the names of all the workouts into my database and then just record the number of calories my HRM says I burned each day. Today was yoga which is a low burner.0
