The greatest amount of cholesterol I consumed today came from fruit salad which had 90+ grams. Why? Fruit really has a lot of cholesterol?? Does anyone know where all this cholesterol is coming from in fruit? Thanks.

I hope you mean milligrams. Back to the question, cholesterol comes from animal sources not plants. Did your salad have cheese in it? Eggs or dairy in the dressing? Some beef mixed in?

No cholesterol from the fruit. It has to be from the dressing or a typo in the nutrition label.

There was probably mayo in the fruit salad.

^^This. Mayo (or some sort of dressing) that is egg or dairy based. Cholesterol is ONLY found in animal products (meat, eggs, dairy). Or it's mislabeled (or MFP entry is wrong). What does the label say (ingredients wise)?

Well, here's the funny thing, and I'm sorry, I should've said... This was a recipe I entered manually and it doesn't have anything in it but fruit. No dressing, no cheese. Just strawberries, blueberries, red and green grapes, Mandarin oranges, kiwi fruit, apples, and pineapple. Nothing else. I can't imagine where that 94 mg of cholesterol is coming from (also, yes, sorry... milligrams).

So odd... I'll go back and check it again. It does seem like something is really off with that.

I vote for a typo on the nutrition information from one of your fruits.

Yep! That was it... actually it was a misinterpretation! When I put in kiwi fruit, for some strange reason it converted that to an egg and somehow, I didn't catch that. So I corrected the recipe to include actual kiwi and no egg and now there's no cholesterol and a lot less calories. WIN! lol...
