It's been awhile since I've been on here. After a 100lb weight loss I thought I had it nailed. Dr's told me I needed to increase my intake as I was always in starvation mode. So I did that but for 6 months I've plateau. Nosing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I'm going to start tracking again but any other advise to get things rolling again? I still want to lose at least 50 more lbs. Granted I'm the smallest I've been but still considered overweight.

Plateaus aren't real. A plateau means you are eating too much, or miscounting, usually both. Start from scratch. Put all your info into MFP, set up your calories to lose 1 pound per week, and go.

your doctor actually said that you're in starvation mode when you're still 50 pounds overweight? he sounds incompetent. get a new doctor.

I wasn't even getting in 800 calories a day but burning 1200 so that's what she was explaining.

oh, well 800 calories is clearly not enough. Did you say you hit a plateau after you upped your calories or before? If it was after, you're probably eating too much. I'm assuming you're eating much more than 800 calories now in order to hit a plateau?

Yeah, starvation mode isn't really a thing though. You can, long term, slow your metabolism, but if you're not giving your body enough, it WILL burn through the fat and muscle you have stored.

Tigersword is correct - put your info into MFP and eat the calories given to you. For success, you need to track. My advice would be to get a food scale so your tracking is as accurate as possible.

I'm not sure how much I was eating when not tracking. Maybe higher calorie foods but not higher quantity. I have a Ness an so my stomach is small and is so have good and bad days that affect my calorie intake so have been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs for about 6 months.
