Hey all,

What obstacle do you run into, while on your fitness journey? How do you plan on overcoming them?

My biggest one so far is not wanting to go to the gym when I get home from work. And not because I don't like working out, it's because my awesome roommates are home and we start hanging out and the night flies! I fixed it by setting up hang out time on the weekends with my roomies. So I can still see them, just not at the expense of skipping the gym!

You say "obstacle", I say "excuse" ;)

I found an exercise I enjoy (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), which keeps me going.

I found a way to eat whatever I want (MyFitnessPal), as long as I eat less than maintenance.

I found a way to learn more about nutrition and fitness (examine.com, /r/fitness, /r/bjj)

I found a way to help others to keep myself motivated (MFP forums).

You don't "find" obstacles, you stay positive, and keep going, regardless of mistakes or hiccups along the way! :)

I've had a few this past year including an industrial accident that resulted in cracked ribs. I wasn't worried. When I healed I went back at it.

    Oof! I've been there!

Ribs are the worst! You think you're fine, then try to push open a door and YARGH!!!!

Glad to hear it didn't stop you!

The only negatives in your life should be pull-ups! ;)

For me, getting enough exercise as I'm extremely lazy. Also, I know I'm going to struggle to maintain. I'm like 27lbs from maintenance (lost 43lbs) but I'm already worrying about it...

my biggest obstacle right now is that I have been sick and not tracking every day like I did when I first restarted back in august. The fact that I lost my login streak of over 100 days in a row disappoints me. I am finally feeling a little better so I'm starting a new streak and today I showed a loss on the scale so I am lower than I have been for a few years. staying positive and not beating myself up over set backs has been my biggest improvement this time around

I struggled to figure out how to navigate going out with friends and going to parties at first. On the one hand, it's ridiculous to think you're never going to eat out or only eat salads at restaurants. Being extreme like that doesn't teach you anything about a lifestyle change, and it's pretty miserable. On the other hand, if you splurge every time you go out, you risk not making progress. As with everything, it came down to making smart choices and splurging in moderation.
