Measure and weigh everything. That was key for me. It's a pain at first but you get used to it. Eyeballing it will not work, we give ourselves too much food. Find a good diet plan that is one you can live with like Mediterranean diet. It's good for the long haul. Buy yourself a small kitchen scale and those measuring cups that stack so you cannot go over 1/2 cup etc. by mistake. And use a knife and level off the top, every bit counts! Lower your salt intake, it makes you retain weight. Drink more water and herbal tea but cut back on diet sodas. They have salt in them. Read nutritional labels on food and bread, etc. Many breads are very high in carbs so switch to a lower carb count brand. Use wraps also. Eat more veggies. If you hate them, look up recipes online that don't use cheeses or sauces to cover them, too fattening. Try grilling them with a bit of olive oil and garlic, you can eat broccoli or cauliflower florets like popcorn. My daughter hates vegetables and she will eat those. Journal your food diary, it does help. Walking is a great exercise and everyone even me with a bad knee and do it. If it's cold out, go early in AM to local mall and walk there are always mall walkers, just avoid the food court! Marching in place while you watch a favorite tv show is good also. It's easy to do and is a good winter exercise. You just have to do continuous marching, no stopping for the hour. To work up to it, start by marching only during the commercials. Then sit during the show. After awhile, try to march during the show and sit during the commercials. Then march through first half of show, then entire show. You have to lift your feet actually off the ground each time you step, but keep even time, it's no race. Do it every night. Try it, it's a good beginner's exercise.
