Okay, I am super pumped right now.

Earlier, I set out to go on a jog with one of my dogs, Bud, a Border Collie mix. Today was supposed to be my easy jog day, and normally I go no faster than an 11-min mile pace. Well.. Bud kind of turned it into an interval run for me. Every time he saw a squirrel or another dog on the trail, he would run faster and I ended up sprinting to keep up with him. I was resisting at first, but by the time we hit the mile marker and my time was 9:30, I decided, "Well, guess I'll see how fast I can run my mile and a half in" (mile and a half is my PT test for the Air Force). So, I began to push it on purpose, and I ended up completing my 1.5 in 13:53! I haven't done a mile and a half sub 14 since autumn 2008, so I am STOKED. My PT test is in June, and I was shooting for a 13:36, but I think I can definitely aim for sub 13! The great news is, today I wasn't TRYING for a timed run, because I wasn't pushing myself the first mile (except for when Bud was trying to make friends or eat squirrels).

Thanks, Bud!

That is the pace I am doing for my pace/tempo interval training on Tuesdays and Saturdays! OMG if I got sub 12 I would cry. I've NEVER got below a 13 officially. I got 12:40 once I think but that was on a treadmill so I don't really count it..

That is awesome............I'm sure you will be well under your 13 minute goal. I know I did it for 25 years in the Navy and once I retired I totally retired and I'm going to get back down to 12min 30 secs.
