i dont understand calories?

Hey guys im new to this and trying to lose some weight. Im a bit confused about the calories when using the food diary. Am i supposed to eat less calories then my goal or more? and what is net calories? thanks for your help in advance

You should aim to eat as close to your calorie target as you can--that assures you lose at the rate you chose.0

Net calories is the relative total after allowing for any exercise you do. For example if you walked for half an hour and logged this as burning 200 calories, the your total allowance for that day would be raised by 200 calories.
The site than takes all the food you've entered and shows you your total calorie intake for the day, lets say 1500, and it also shows your net intake which would then be 1300.0
