I recemtly started tracking my food intake again and noticed that I am only hitting about half of my recomended grams of protein, if that. Any tips on how I can add it into my day? Also I work out, so is my low protein going to hurt my progress. The goal is weight loss

  • Lean meats, beans, lentils, Greek yogurt, etc...there are a lot of lower calorie foods with high protein content.

Protein is particularly important when losing weight and working out to ensure your maintain as much muscle mass as possible while losing fat. There are plenty of high protein foods, but it can take a shift in mindset to try and make sure you get protein at every meal/snack.

Meat: chicken, turkey, steak, pork, bacon

Fish and seafood: white fish, shrimp, tuna, salmon

    Meat replacements: Quorn, tofu, seitan

Dairy: cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yoghut, milk

Vegetables and Pulses: peas, edamame, lentils, chick peas, beans, broccoli, mushrooms

Supplements: protein powders (whey, rice, hemp, soy, pea, caesin), protein bars

ETA: I forgot eggs. How could I forget eggs?!!

In our Fitness group we recommend .8 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight for weight loss. Feel free to add me if you want some help with your macros.

I started eating tofu again to try and up the protein, I think I'll try the protein bars and try adding some beans. I usualky only eat black beans when I go to chipotle!
