hi guys so ive asked my gp to prescribe me some Orlistat for help with weight loss. Ive been told if i lose 10lbs in 4weeks i can have the prescription.

Just wondering if anyone else has used Orlistat or are currently using it and any opinions. Does it work?

If you go over your fat whilst taking orlistat, you'd better wear a pad. And never ever pass gas, just in case. Orangy, a*nal seepage is a side effect. Looks like taco grease. True story.

    Hi Dee, Welcome.

I see by your profile that you have 67 pounds to go. That's not really very much. I suggest you forget the diet pills and set up your goals to lose 1.5 pounds a week. The only thing required to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn. The bold truth is if you don't eat at a calorie deficit, even with the pills, you will not lose weight. So, since you have to have the deficit, what's the purpose of the pills?

When I was in my early twenties, my highest weight was 220 pounds, and I now weight about 140. I lost about 65 pounds of that weight when I was 40, gained 35 back over a time, and then lost 44 pounds within the last few years.

I tried every kind of diet out there, including diet pills. Sure, I lost weight, but once I was "done" with my diet, including diet pills, I went right back to eating the way I did before and gained my weight back.

I have been maintaining my weight for over a year now, something I've NEVER done in my life. Even when I lost the weight before, I was still considered overweight.

Have I talked you out of throwing the pills away? :)

By the way, I think any doctor who says they will give you a diet pill prescription if you lose 10 pounds in four weeks doesn't know a thing about healthy weight loss.

Did you know you can buy Orlistat over the counter? it's called Alli. It works by blocking the fat you eat so it goes right through you. It makes you eat a low fat diet by making you fear the side effects. Problem is, you can eat all the low fat you want, if you aren't in deficit, you won't lose weight.

True story :o . And, OP, if you can and do lose 10lbs in 4 weeks before your GP will prescribe it, then you will have already shown yourself you CAN do it without the pills.
