Hello! I am kind of curious about different type of ab exercises that I would physically be able to do.
I injured my back in a car accident and smashed the discs in my thoracic spine a few years ago. Situps and crunches cause me a lot of pain, as does anything that puts a lot of pressure on my back. I want to get rid of my blubber belly though! Any suggestions?

Cardio.
I had spinal fusion back surgery in 1992. I can't do crunches or anything like that. Cardio has helped me burn the blubber.0 -
I guess it just means being patient about it huh? I am going to kick my cardio up to 60 minutes a day 6-7 days a week. I think I'll have more trouble eating back the calories than I will doing the exercise!0

Yeah. I can do the ab machine at the gym - but only once in awhile and at a very low weight. I can't arch my back at all, so it's hard to do ab work. I try and do it with Billy Blanks on the Tae Bo Live Advanced, but I just can't do it like someone without back issues can. It took awhile for cardio to burn my belly blubber. It'll take fat from other areas first.0 -
Not sure how any of these would feel, but they're not laying on your back on the ground and they work your abs.

Are you unable to do any form of crunches? Or can you do something where your back it supported. My husband broke his back when he was a kid. He does his crunches using an exercise ball to support it.0

Well luckily... you cant spot burn fat, it comes off as it comes off and you just gotta keep at it, I started above where you're at and I'm happy to say I still have a little juggle, but at this weight it doesn't seem to bother me or my boyfriend, so I'm just gonna keep doing a well rounded workout routine to build muscle throughout, and we'll just have to see what happens!!
But don't worry... YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!!!! =P ALL IN LOVE!!0 -
P.S. I have fibromyalgia, deformed discs in my back and my heart can't pump enough oxygen to feed my muscles and it causes severe muscle spasms... So, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND the pain side of this whole thing!!!0

so, from personal experience...you can do all the ab workout you want, in the world!
but....it will never be as visible as you want if the "sheet of fat" is covering the abs.
...and cardio will burn fat, and overall help with weightloss...
however...this will be YOUR BEST BET is....
...INTERVALS...this is the key....intense interval training...(can be done while running, on a bike, elliptical...etc)
hands down....
personal experience...it targets fatty deposit stores...aka lovehandles, around the belly...the "pooch"...ya know.
heres the link that helped me....
