Need New Ideas

I've been gone for a while and have recently returned to MFP. I came back because I signed my husband up to help with his diabetes and he wanted me to "diet" with him.
Most of the reasons I had for joining in the first place are not really a factor now and I am looking for new motivation to loose weight.
I am NOT interested in looking good, so please don't suggest that as a possibility.
Please Help!

Well theres the undeniable fact that instead of looking good, you feel way better, be healthier, have more energy, be uplifted, life is generally just way better, even if its already good.0

LOL! Okie Dokie. Lose weight so that when you need to tie your shoe, you do it without thinking about it. Lose weight so you can chase your grandkids around the yard. Lose weight to show your husband that if a girl can do it, so can he., lose weight so when you step on the scale at the Dr. office he doesn't give you the stink eye. But mostly lose weight to just be a healthier you.0

Thank you for your response. Got the shoe thing covered. My grandkids moved 900 miles away. Don't have a "girl" problem with the hubby. He knows I can do stuff he can't. Don't go to the doctor. But I know I could be healthier. Thanks. I really appreciate your thoughts.0 -

You could buy fattier cuts of meat, that is cheaper, usually also per gram of protein; it's the additives, not the fat, you should look out for (but of course within reason; fat has indeed calories). Buy in season, that is when produce is cheapest and best. And you can buy frozen vegetables all year round, just as healthy and often much cheaper. Potatoes, eggs, beans, oatmeal, rice, pasta, carrots, very cheap. You don't have to eat only meat and vegetables, there is still room in a healthy diet for whatever you like to eat.0 -
I realized that looking better isn't a good motivator for me - I struggled with my self esteem for a long time and as it got better I stopped feeling bad about my weight. The unintended consequence is that my weight went back up and I find I have to find new, longer lasting motivators. My new ones are: being a good role model for my kids instead of just telling them to eat healthy while I munch on cookies; liking the way I feel at the end of the day instead of being full and bloated; not being winded after walking up to my third floor office...
Hope it Gives you some good ideas - good luck B0 -
Thank you everyone for your support and ideas. I know there are plenty of good reasons to eat healthy and exercise. I was going through a down time when I posted this (mostly from sugar withdrawals). I am feeling much better now. I really appreciate everyone and your suggestions.0
