My doctor has suggested that I go on the Dash Diet so that I can lower my blood pressure and lose weight.

Has anyone had any success with this diet or can anyone give me some insight about the pro's and cons?

I have never tried it, but the sample menu I viewed online doesn't seem too restrictive. I can't wait to see what others who have tried it have to say about it.

My doctor has also put me on DASH for high blood pressure and weight loss. Feel free to friend me if you're interested in sharing ideas along the way.

It is heavy on fruits and veggies and and light on saturated fat, sugar, and salt.
    (low salt, low fat diet)

I just started a low sodium diet last week. It really has worked for me so far. I'm not having any strong cravings and I feel full. I'm eating lots of vegetables and meat. I also eat citrus with breakfast. I've lost 5 lbs!! This is the first time that I've kept track of my sodium....I'm really surprised how good I feel and it's not as hard as other diets I have been on.
    Hope this helps!

ps I'm 49 and the last time I had my blood pressured checked it was on the high side...so this should really help.

I'm on a low sodium diet, too. I knew there was salt in everything but I can't believe how MUCH! I took a week not to restrict my sodium, just to be aware of it and then I made the switch from watching to doing. It hasn't been too bad. I had to add a protein powder to my day, more for the ease and not the necessity. Does anyone know of any good apps for sodium/nutritional content?
