You can eat anything, just watch your calorie goal.

    Do eat: food

Do not eat: Things that aren't food

Fine print: Try to get in fruit and veg, a decent amount of fat and protein, enough liquids, and a cookie when the mood hits. Stick to your goals.

    This!
  • as long as you eat less calories than you burn you'll lose weight .... you can just eat a larger amount of lo-cal food before you hit your calorie target

Hello, dear! I think that you should be able to eat whatever you fancy, but you should cut out sweets, pastries and large amount of dairy, sodas and bread. Wishing you the best xx

Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.

^my favorite quote when I get overwhelmed by people telling me to cut carbs, go vegetarian, eat primal, etc etc. It also helps when I get a little to neurotic about trying to count calories while away from home.

    Dis.

Maintain variety, exercise for health and fun. Stick to it.

Been here a while and having people "tell you" what to eat or not based on your diary doesn't really seem to work. - set your goals, both in terms of calories and macro nutrients and stick to them - responsibility is 99% internal. If you never log or cheat or lie it only truly hurts yourself.

Think of it as farm animals (this image is stolen) involved in making breakfast. The piggy is committed to making the bacon, the chickens are just involved in delivering eggs. Be the piggy.

Hi, jennsve91! If you are new to healthy lifestyle choices, you need to do your research. There is a lot of info out there, so stick with credible resources. Start by plugging in your goals into MFP to get your calorie goals. Then, do some reading to educate yourself. It won't take a lot of time, I promise. Start with My Plate, the governement page that has been built using research. If you have a particular lifestyle goal, like becoming vegetarian, they have info on that as well, or try Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. As you try stuff, do what feels best for your body. Staying within your calorie range is a good start, but making sure you get enough protein, healthy fats and carbs will ensure your body is nourished so you can be successful. 1200 calories of doritos and 1200 calories of carrots is still 1200 calories...way different amounts, minds you, but you get my point.

I started about 6 months ago, down 40 lbs. I eat mostly vegetarian, but when I want a burger, I have one...I struggled trying a lot of things until I did stop and educate myself. If you need support, just let me know, I'll help you :)

    We're all in this together!

  • Stick to non-processed foods. Processed foods have a lot of sodium and even if the calories aren't that bad, the sodium makes you retain water and makes it harder to lose.
