Body Type & Macro Nutrients-Male ectomorph

Hey,
I have asked a similar question in the past, but I have been doing some research and just wanted a few more opinions. I know in the long run if I continue to eat a caloric deficit I will loose weight. So really this is more about curiosity and I want to fine-tune my macro nutrient goals.
What I have found on a couple of different websites is that my body type plays a role in determining my macro nutrient ratio. Again, I know it will come down to eating less calories. I am a ectomorph Male, and most websites seem to think ectomorphs can handle more carbs. Plus, I am not just any ectomorph, I am an extreme ectomorph, I have never seen a male with arms and legs as skinny as mine. (I am still fat though, large pot belly and waist).
So I wonder if any other male ectomorphs had more success with weight loss by actually using a higher carb ratio, like 40-50%. Right now I am at 35% Carbs, 35% protein, 30%. I am mid-twenties, exercise 1 hr./5 times per week. Combination of weights/cardio.
Note: I cannot increase my protein ratio, I may have to decrease it. I had a blood test done recently and it showed my BUN ratio was high, I assume because I increased my protein intake.
Thanks and good luck to all.

Ectomorph, etc. is just bro-science. There's no science behind it whatsoever. It's like coming on here telling us you're a Gemini.
Who conducted the blood test / interpreted the results? If it was a doctor, follow his/her advice.0 -

Yes, it was a doctor. The Doctor thought it was dehydration, but I drink lots of water and after a bit of research, I saw BUN could be increased due to protein intake, which made more sense since I upped my protein intake. But all this is secondary to my question, I really just added to clarify that I couldn't increase in my protein.0 -
Body Types Are Bunk, Bro.0

K, well, the answer to your original question is that yes, you could play around with your macros if you like. But that it has nothing to do with ectomorph, endomorph or any of that -- those theories have been debunked ages ago.
As long as you're getting a healthy balanced diet, adequate nutrients, and addressing any medical issues you have with your doctor, the rest really comes down to CICO.0 -

This is what I was kind of thinking and alluded to in my original post. I just was more curious if there were cases of ectomorphs had better success with eating more/less carbs since a few websites mentioned this. Thanks.0 -

Ectomorphs aren't real. They're like unicorns.

Ectomorphs just eat more and move less. Endomorphs eat less and move more. Somatotypes really just come down to calorie intake versus expenditure, the rest of it is a myth.
It can't hurt to play with your macros and see how it impacts your training. No need to drop carbs to get results. Accurate logging and an appropriate deficit is going to impact your weight more than macro settings.0 -
If you have skinny arms and lift heavy, eat in a surplus and build muscle, would you still be an ectomorph?0

While somatotypes are generally shot down as you can see, as an FYI a notable characteristic of an ectomorph is low body fat. So, as far as macro nutrient ratios go I wouldn't necessarily go with the general advice for ectomorphs. That being said, 45% carbs isn't considered high.0
