I have been struggling to gain weight all my life. I am 6'1" and never been able to surpass 160lbs. In fact, 157 has been my record weight. Due to financial circumstances and other calamities of life, I have been unable to maintain the diet and lifestyle nessisary to gain and maintain my body weight. I wanted to start a discussion to see if anyone else is out there with similar problems. I have been back at it again for the last week and have gained a few pounds (currently intaking 3,000+ Calories)

What kinds of food are you eating to get your surplus?
  • Eat more calories than necessary and try to do this in a healthy way and drink enough water instead of soda. You also have to try to build some muscles, you don't have to spend any money to this, you just can do is at home as a little training once a day. At the moment I try the same things. I hope it works. You wish you luck, you can do this!

Try making a " snack bag" when you get up for breakfast. Try to eat a medium sized meal 3 times and snack in between. Stay hydrated by including water bottles in the snack bag.
Focus on protein, fat, and carbs and less on calleries. Watch vitamins and nutrient levels etc.
at least this seems to be helping me.
    Good luck!

Sugar free shakes. Fruit (mostly bananas) supplement bars like Kind bars, high callerie high protein. 3 square meals with veggies, lean meats, fish, healthy cheeses, etc. and snack in between.
lots of water is my goal ( it's never enough though, I struggle with drinking enough water lol)

Thank you for the motivation, things are on the up and up!
  • Google the "GOMAD" (gallon of milk per day) diet and www.startingstrength.com it's all about real strength gains and adding weight for the real average joe. Unless finances are still an issue, then go for the cheap carbs: russet potatoes, rice, and make your own dry beans! Suppa cheap weight gainers!
