Hi I'm Laura 45 years old; the day after my 45 birthday I made a huge change in my life I stop smoking. Now is the time to lose the weight. I joined a gym, been doing well that that. Changing my trainer, he thinks if my diet should be fish and eggs no fruit or veggie. I will hit my goal of 250 pounds in 4 weeks. I'm 311pounds and 5'11. This is not what I need to do, I need to lose my weight I know this, but also a quick fix is not my fix. My body craves veggie and fruit. My goal isn't 250 lbs.; it’s less than 200 lbs. So here I am my sister told me about this site, so I will count calories, work out and I have a place where I can get advice from people who are in the same boat as me.

Way to go on quitting smoking. I have recently stopped smoking as well. It helped my exercise immensely. It's awesome that you joined a gym!

I'm not a trainer but if somebody told me I could only eat fish and eggs, I'd start to go crazy.

Don't get me wrong, the protein is important. Turkey, chicken, lean beef, etc.

You could probably stand to add some healthy veggies and stuff into the mix. Broccoli, Cabbage, Onions, Peppers, Carrots, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Green Beans...

What about snacks? Hummus, a glass of milk, nuts, cheese, etc?

Variety is the spice of life!

Congratulations!! It's a trip well worth it!

Feel free to add me as a friend on here, and we can encourage each other and keep each other motivated :)

Proteins and fats are important, but so is balance. Veggies and fruit help complete your nutritional needs. One thing I love about MFP is that you can see the nutritional side of what you've in putted for the day. It helps me see when I've eaten too much sodium, carbs etc, and where I need to fill the gap. I usually fall short of my goals, but I'm getting there.

Also, if you don't have one, a food scale is a great investment. You can get them cheap at Walmart or target :)
