Recipe/Logging/Serving question for solids + sauce

Hi!
I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
I made "crockpot meatballs" over the weekend. Meatballs + grape jelly + chili sauce.
When, I entered the recipe, it said it was 370 cals / 5 meatballs. Fine. No problem. I'm good with that.
My questions: There was a lot of sauce leftover in the crockpot. So, did I consumed 370 cals or not? How do you determine how to log "just the sauce" (to any recipe) Do you just create the sauce ingredients and then divide by the serving to get the total number of calories for the sauce and then add it to the meatballs (or what ever solid food)?
I apologize if this seems like a dumb question. I just want to make sure I'm logging accurately.

My mom makes those meatballs and they always disappear quickly when she does. There's no easy answer to your question, really. It's going to depend on what you find easiest.
You could try figuring out the calories of the sauce that's left, subtracting that from the calories of the total amount of sauce and then dividing by the number of meatballs you served. You'd then multiply by the number of meatballs you actually ate plus the calories for the meatballs themselves, of course.
You could also just assume that half (or another ratio) of the sauce you made was actually consumed and adjust your recipe from there.
Or, you could do what I usually do and just let the calories I logged be higher than what I probably consumed. Calorie counting is never completely accurate, anyway. It's not possible to be. Calories you burn in exercise are an estimate, the calorie counts of foods are estimates, too. All we can try to do is to be somewhere in the ballpark and hope it all washes out in the end.0 -
I crock-pot chicken in BBQ sauce. When it's done, I just remove the chicken and drain the excess sauce almost completely. I'm probably consuming a SMALL amount of cals. from remnant sauce, but it's nothing overly massive..... so don't worry about it, if that's the case with you.0

I just follow what it says. If I overestimate by, let's say, 50 calories, that's not really much in the long run.0
