CKO Kickboxing: Holy Schnikees...It kicked my *kitten*

Amazon Local had a coupon for 6 classes and gloves for $29. No brainer, right? I could blow $29 and more in eating out/drinks. I went last night and was hit with a sledgehammer named Amanda. She must have been 5 feet tall and the cutest little thing. Once the music started, I swear she grew about 2 feet, and turned into She-Hulk. I haven't had a workout like that in years. I had to modify many times and take many water breaks. At first my pride kicked in and I felt like crap in doing so, but then I looked around and saw many people also taking breaks and modifying

It was an hour long class, and by the 20th minute I asked myself I had made a mistake and if I would even be able to finish it. I'm glad I did. After the class, I went up to Amanda who had shrunken back down to her pre-beastmode self. I thanked her for kicking my *kitten* and then she asked me if it was my first time, and said yes. She busted out the biggest smile and said, "The first time is always the roughest, baby."

I think I'm in love =)

I joined my kickboxing gym on a similar type of special. I think it was $49.99 for 10 classes and the gloves. Best decision I've ever made. I go about 4-5 times a week and, Amanda is right, the first time is the roughest. Don't get me wrong, I still get my butt kicked every class but it's so much fun and I feel amazing after every class. I hope you decide to stick with it after your 6 classes are up!
  • Last year I joined a kickboxing gym and earned my first two belts, such a proud moment for me, then I let everything slip and stopped going, weight piled on... Loved your post had me giggling at her turning into the She-Hulk haha

I went to CKO on a Groupon initially and signed up when they had a great deal around the holidays / Black Friday. I love it, different instructors have different styles - I never get bored or know what to expect. I also noticed (at my location) that if I go to the early class (6am) it's practically empty and like having a personal trainer with mitt drills, sparing etc. 600+ calories in 1 hour for me.
