Dear Rosa, why do you need to lose 20 pounds? I have a wedding to go to in April. I'm hoping I can just lose a pound a week. It has been very difficult for me to lose any weight. I know I must move some everyday, but it doesn't always happen. I, too, need motivation. Maybe we can help each other? Let me know.
  • I need to lose 20 pounds by april too...its my birthday that month and this is going to be my gift to me :) lets motivate each.other here !

I've lost 15 lbs. since January 1st, this app is amazing. Control carbs and run a deficit of your daily calories each day. Slowly exercise remain focused and visualize the new you. Soon, you WILL be the thin person looking back in that mirror.
  • what if we dont achieve our calorie goal?? i'm supposed to eat 1200 calories a day. in the last 3 days i've went way under my calorie goal. (haven't been feeling well) I've eaten but i just go under the recommended calorie goal. i kinda feel like i've been scolded because i haven't eaten much the last 3 days. lol i still work out and have lost 3 lbs in the last 2 days. I don't want to gorge myself to reach the calorie intake because it will make me sick. any suggestions?

I'm not sure what's going on, but those of you who are going to extremes should be careful. You are setting yourself up for gaining back the weight you are now (too) quickly losing. 1200 calories is a fairly good minimum to keep up. Working out while eating fewer calories may be ok once in awhile, but I wouldn't keep doing that. You don't need to eat exactly 1200 calories, but make sure you feel ok and are hydrated as well as getting your nutrients. Are you on a fasting diet, Cherokee? How way under are you? If you work out, you should still be eating at least 1000 calories or more. Some people do ok just eating 2 meals per day. You do need to stay aware of how you are feeling.

I agree with bigd. Lower the carb and sugar intake and keep moving. Eat healthy, don't go too extreme. Even if we only lose 5 or 10 pounds by April, at least we are going in the right direction!

7 lb a month could happen if you're starting off morbidly obese, but if that's all you have to lose you're setting yourself up for disappointment &/or health problems (from trying to cut calories too much, lose weight too fast).

    Go read sexypants.

And here's a blog post I did about goal setting, including weight, calories, & macros.

So, Rosa, what are you doing towards that goal? How can we motivate you?
    What is everyone else doing?
**I am trying to keep to the 1200 calories, eat fewer carbs, exercise at least 30 min/day, drink water on the hour. So far, I've lost one pound. Not very exciting, but I just need to keep moving every day. That is the hardest part for me.

That is my exact goal! I've been going to the gym regularly and eating WAY better! Good luck to you!
