I found a recipe that I want to do it is slow cooker turkey chili. one example I have is:

what is 0.25cups of chicken broth?

Then this one

10.00 oz of mild diced tomato?

There are a lot of recipes out there are like that for the chicken broth shouldn't it say 2.5 cups? For someone who hasn't cooked may think ok 25 cups of chicken broth. To me I know that is a lot of broth just for 5 servings.

or is it american measurements in cooking as I looked it up and it sure doesn't look right. because normally it is in oz

    I read this as a 1/4 c of chicken broth and a 10 oz can of diced tomatoes.
    I think the decimals have something to do with calculating the nutrition but I could be wrong.

    0.25 cups does mean the same as 1/4 cup. It's like if you had 100% or 1.0 or 1 cup then you divide it by 4 it would equal 25% or 0.25 or 1/4 cup. Oh and these are american measurements.

    Did you type it wrong and it wasn't actually 0.25 cups then? Because 2.5 and 0.25 are way different.

    Oh another thing is that the 0.25 cup could be per serving. So if there are 8 servings of the chili then you would times the 0.25 by 8, which would be 2.0 or 2 cups of chicken broth total in the recipe.

    0.25 = 1/4. It's represented as a decimal, rather than a fraction.
