Does drinking tea help anyone keep the weight off? I drink about 4-6 cups a day (sweetened with raw honey or stevia) and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I stll love it so I'll drink it anyway but it sure would be a nice bonus if it helped me lose weight too!

i think tea helps people because it has basically no calories (about 5 cals) even if you sweetened it, it's not as bad as soda and stuff... so they can drink it without extra cals... i personally drink tea because i only drink water... so tea and coffee is a way for me to get a different taste without going overboard, (i dont sweeten my tea or my coffee)... i've heard that green tea has some weight loss benefits.. but i wouldnt know for sure!

Never helped me. I drink it daily too, but it doens't really affect my weight.
  • It helps in that it curbs my appetite if I'm feeling hungry. A cup of unsweetened tea instead takes care of the craving and I didn't get any extra calories in the process. It doesn't make me lose weight directly though, so far as I can tell. I do like knowing that I'm getting antioxidants and hopefully protecting against the risk of more serious diseases in the future.

    1. Green teas can have an appetite suppressing effect, but it is fairly minimal. It's not like a magic pill or anything.

    2. All varieties of real tea (green, oolong, black, white, etc.) have varying levels of different phytochemicals which are good for you.

    3. If you are drinking tea in place of something with more calories, such as sugared soda or sweetened coffee, then it can help lower your calorie intake.

    4. When you get into herbals, there's even more variety of phytochemicals and possible effects. For example, hibiscus (which has a lovely citrus taste) can lower blood pressure. Chamomile can make you sleepy. Etc. etc. etc.

Chamomile tea is also a decent source of calcium.
