Have both of these in my playlist too. Also like Overcomer by Mandisa and Proud from old Queer as folk series.

    Execute- excision (dubstep)
I've been doing bo staff, so that song really pumps me up. While I'm running on the treadmill, I'm just thinking of choreography to that song with bo staff martial artists.

    Shinedown-Diamond Eyes
    Stone Sour-Made of Scars
Requiem For A Dream-Lux Aeterna (or just search requiem for a dream theme song) epic!

And pretty much a lot of Rocky music- Burning Heart, Gonna Fly Now, Hearts On Fire, No Easy Way Out

So it's a toss between angry/aggressive sounding music and cheesy 80s

Dreams...Van Halen. Nothing like hearing that song on the last mile of your long run.

Here are some of my songs followed by the artist and my favorite lyric within. Some may seem dark, and are, but I like how well they convey such human feelings and experiences that I can relate to on some level.

No Woman, No Cry - Bob Marley: "Everything's gonna be alright."

Follow Me - Muse: The whole song! But the beginning is great,
    "When darkness falls
    And surrounds you
    When you fall down
    When you're scared
    And you're lost
    Be brave
I'm coming to hold you now"

    Sober - Pink:
    I'm safe
    Up high
    Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
    No pain
    Inside
    You're like perfection
How do I feel this good sober

Monsters - Lucius: Another whole song beauty...here's the intro:
    I know I'm older
but there are still monsters in all of my closets
Sometimes I feed them and some they get bigger than others
    depends on the day
Sometimes I'll sit on the edge of my bed
and I'll wait just to see them rear their ugly heads
Sometimes I just cannot face them

    I'm Loney - White Stripes:
I go down to the river
    Filled with regret
I go down and I wonder
If there was any reason left
I left just before my lungs could get wet
I'm lonely, but I ain't that lonely yet

Dynamite - Taio Cruz: Uh...yeah...I cannot sit still when I hear this song:
I throw my hands up in the air sometimes,
    Saying AYO! Gotta let go!
I wanna celebrate and live my life,
    Saying AYO! Baby, let’s go!

    Rock on, all!

It depends somewhat on the circumstances:

Hard run - Runaways, "Cherry Bomb"

Easy run - Blue Oyster Cult, "Don't Fear the Reaper"

    General badassery - Globus, "Preliator"

Grading papers - "Stars" from Les Miserables (Have a listen. You'll get it.)
