Understand; my "sit all day at a desk" job started catching up to me around the same time.... now 3 years later I'm trying to push back down.

I sit at a desk too and bought a fitbit to challenge me to do daily walks and keep up with my fitness... sometimes we just need an extra push.. are you able to go for walks during work? Around the perimeter?

30 was 37 years ago for me, but yes, I started to battle weight in my early 30s. Hang in there, do what you need to do and remember, you are not alone in the challenge to maintain weight and exercise as needed.

Are you sure that the only thing that has changed in your life is your age? I’m not sure how just turning 30 would have any sort of physical consequences to your weight! I’m guessing it is the other factors that go along with getting older / maturing that are impacting you – maybe getting married, having kids, a stressful job, maybe you are earning more money and eating “better” (more calories), etc. Whatever the cause(s), you are most likely eating more and exercising less.

The reason why I don’t buy the “I’m getting older and somehow that magically makes me gain weight” is from personal experience. I’m 44, and I am in much better shape than I was at 24. I just learned to take my fitness more seriously, exercise regularly, and eat a much healthier diet with a specific amount of calories and macros per day. Age only correlates to fatness and an impaired state of fitness if you allow it to happen.
