Hey everyone,
I am new to MFP. I usually eat very little. Just an apple for breakfast with a glass of milk. And then another fruit and a bit of tea and then dinner. I'm not consuming as many calories as I should be. I work out regularly. This has been my diet routine for years.
is it because of the carbohydrate content in fruit that I'm not loosing weight?

We need more information. What is your age/height/weight/goal weight? What is your calorie intake? How long has it been since you lost weight? And can you open your diary?

My guess is that you are not eating enough calories so your body is holding on to all it can get. You/ We must remember that food is a fuel source for our bodies. Think about it, what would happen if you fueled your car like you fuel your body right now. It may not go very far. By starving our bodies on a metabolic level (nutrient deprivation), our bodies cannot work the way they were designed to. I hope this is helpful because it's for me just as much as for you. :)

No. Are you accurately logging everything you eat/drink? You may be eating more than you think. If you have been 'under eating' for years, I doubt you could have extra weight to lose.

How big is the glass of milk? The serving size on a milk jug is one cup, but most people's glasses are much larger than that. You may be eating more than you realize.

  • FWIW, carbs don't effect your weight in that way. The only thing that effects weight loss is calories. If you are burning more calories than you consume, and you aren't eating stupidly low amounts of calories, you will lose fat.

    Open your diary.
  • Thanks everyone. Well I've milk in a tea cup. I lost weight about a year ago. I ended up putting it back on when I started my studies and job. Now it's on a plateau.
  • Also in the case of nuts, I have a count on two pistachios, 2 almonds, 1 walnut and 2 hazelnuts.
I love peanuts but I limit the intake to 5 or 6..The jumbo sized ones. But that too is on an irregular basis.
I'm sort of allergic to nuts. I get generalised itching so can't go overboard anyways.
  • Height is 5"4in and weight is 66.
I used to be 59. I'd prefer to be around the same mark again if not 55. But 60 is the aim

Kilos or pounds? If you really do eat as little as you say, and you're
"not consuming as many calories as you should be" then scientifically you will lose weight. Somewhere along the line you must be underestimating the amount of cals you consume. Also, if you're allergic to nuts, you shouldn't be eating nuts. Weigh your food and compare it to the packaging, open your diary so people can help a little more :)

Okay I just had a look at your diary, you use a lot of generalised foods on here like "homemade so-and-so" which probably aren't very accurate. You should steer clear of using these because anyone can post food on here and make up the cals which are in it. You could be using a lot of oil in food which would bring the cals right up, especially in indian cooking.
I know it takes a lot of time, but if you cook your own meals it's important to weigh absolutely everything that goes into the dish and portion it out correctly to ensure you're adding the right amount of cals into your diary x
