Can I give up wine?

Hi, I'm a 52 happily married mom, newly an empty nester and random exerciser. How do I become more disciplined with exercise and how do I give up the daily glass of wine?

why give up wine? Wine is so good.0

I am having that problem with wine too. I want some so bad right now lol0

How about if you motivate yourself to exercise by allowing yourself to drink your wine when you burn enough calories to "afford" it?0

Drink Bourbon maybe?0

Wine is the one thing I would never give up. I do make sure I exercise enough to make sure I cover the calories though.0

for exercise: make it a part of your routine. whatever works best for you, put it in your schedule and do it whether you feel like it or not. (30 minute walk after dinner, whatever)
for wine: could you replace it with a cup of hot tea or some lemon ginger water (or another no-cal, healthy treat) 5 days of the week and then treat yourself to a glass or two on the weekend?0 -
You could always take account for it in your calories but if you want to remove it, you could slowly phase it out. Like say, instead of the usual daily glass 7 days a week (I'm assuming you drink it every day) you could drink it 6 days one week, 5 the next week, 4 the next..replacing it with something else such as green tea? Just an idea.0

The two big keys for me in giving up alcohol were to not have any in the house (harder if you have family members who drink), and to avoid situations where I knew drinking was expected. Once I had some momentum going, I started attending those things again. It took a couple of sort of monastic months, but it was worth it.0

Most reds run about 120 calories a glass. 5-6 oz depending on the wine. With proper planning wine can still be part of a balanced plan. Enjoy0

Wine is something I wouldn't give up - just make sure you taper your amounts to no more than a couple a day. Wine is truly the only spirit available that doesn't truly upset blood sugar provided you control the amounts to 2 glasses (6oz tops). I lost all fat by drinking plenty of wine - but not all peeps are made the same.0

OK how about no wine Tuesday- Thursday? Friday happy hour, Saturday dinner leftover from happy hour, Sunday dinner, Monday dinner leftover wine from Sunday.0

I didn't read all of the comments, so I may be repeating something here, but a recent study showed that up to 7 servings of alcohol a week is actually good for you. I like red wine, I don't drink a glass every night because it affects my sleep, but I drink one or two a night during the weekend and I fit it into my calorie count. Just don't over indulge! Moderation is the key to everything!0

There is also a brand of wine called "Skinny Girl" which is lower calorie. I haven't tried it though.0
