calories gained

I don't understand how the calories gained work. If I burn off 300 calories does that mean I can add those calories in food and still lose weight or if I only eat my allotted calories do the earned calories subtract from the calories I put in that day?

MFP does not factor in calories burnt from exercise when it gives you a calorie target. So if you choose you can eat them back.

Net Calories Consumed = Total Calories Consumed - Exercise Calories Burned

You want to hit Net Calories.

Be mindful that both MFP and most gym equipment overestimates calorie burn.

The way MFP works is that you're suppose to eat your exercise calories back in order to maintain the correct deficit to lose. Keep in mind that these are only estimates and you will need to adjust based on your personal experience. So if you start the day with 1400 calories and burn 300 with exercise, you now have 1700 calories. Most people chose to only eat back 50-75% to allow for errors in burn estimates.

Thanks for your responses. So if I don't eat those calories back I burned will I still lose weight?
