to walk a golf course is about 5 miles. If a person ran that distance it would be a sport.

For most players, golf is little more than driving around and swinging a club a couple of times between beers. I play a little here and there, and hardly think it's worth counting my hours on the links as exercise. I am sure for those who walk the course and carry their own sticks, it can be a bit of a workout. I'd classify it with bowling...or croquet.

I think Golf is a sport, and a difficult one at that.
Probably not a lot of cardio but it will work the upper body and arms.

I say sport, and a lot of people jealous of people who have taken the time to learn its nuances

    It's a sport.

I've known lots of people that play it, including a numerous friends. Something I've never tried...but its because I have other expensive hobbies, would want to at least walk when playing (most the people I know do the beer/golf cart type games), and it hasn't interested me enough to try.

It can't be a spot if you have to stop walking to hit a ball all the time. Most golfers do not break a score of 100. That is a lot of stopping during a walk in the park.

Since when did walking define sports?
Golf is a very difficult sport, hence so many players shooting over 100.
There are plenty of people who don't take it seriously and use it as a business golf/drinking day.
But for many it is a sport that takes years to play well and playing by the rules,
(play it where it lies) is a satisfying accomplishment.
Badmitton, now there's a Non Sport.

Don't mean to sound defensive but, dang, Golf is very difficult to play well and I have been trying for some time to
    shoot a respectable game.
