in 14 days I've lost 16lbs - I'm happy but worried about side effect etc. I started at 19st 11lbs, and today weighed in at 18st 9lbs.
- I've been calorie counting and doing the protein world shakes for breakfast and lunch.
- Has anyone else lost this amount so quickly
- Thanks x

It is quite a bit of loss but not unheard of so don't worry.
If you have ever watched The Biggest Loser, contestants usually lose double digits during the first week. Some have lost more than 30 pounds the first week. Of course many of them are over 300 pounds (23 stone).
Many high school and college wrestlers will lose more than 10 pounds in a 2 hour practice (mostly water loss).
Be proud of your accomplishment! Be prepared for less loss in the weeks to come, but keep at it and the weight loss will continue.

If you've went from eating a lot to cutting calories, your body will often lose a lot of water weight so there'll be an initial drastic drop and then the rate of decrease will slow down. Many people mistake that for them doing something wrong. Just make sure you aren't cutting calories by a crazy amount. The body performs much better at burning fat when it has enough energy to fuel it.0

You have quite a bit of weight to shift and have just started restricting cals, I assume.
Alot of that initial loss is water. Thus it is quite normal, that you lose alot in the first few weeks. The rate will slow down. Just don't overrestrict. Keep around your maintaince cals - 20-25% and you will lose steadily, but not too quickly.0 -
It seems normal to me. The more you weigh, to more you (usually) lose when you start. Don't be worried/upset when it slacks off. I think you're doing fine.0

How many calories are you consuming? You have to make sure you're getting enough for proper nutrition.
It's not unusual to lose a lot at first, mostly water and waste weight. Since you're not eating solid food for breakfast or lunch, the initial loss has been a little more than usual. You also lose quicker at the beginning the more you weigh. I wouldn't worry unless it doesn't slow down. Good luck!0 -
The faster you lose, the less likely you are to keep the weight off in the long term.
What about easing off the shakes and eating real food all of the time?0 -
It is normal in the first two or three weeks.0

Totally normal pretty much when you make any major change to your diet. As mentioned, probably a lot of water weight. I lost 12 lbs in the first two weeks after I started logging again but probably 10 of it was water. It's still encouraging. I would say just as long as you're getting enough calories it's fine. Just don't be upset if it slows down. lol0

I'm jealous!!! I've only lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks!0

Since you just started, most of it is water. As long as you are getting your 1200 calories, you're safe and fine.0
