Natural sugar?

Hello everyone. This is day 3 of my new healthy lifestyle and I have been going really well. Bought myself a vivofit which is keeping me on track as far as exercise goes, and it was through the Garmin app that I discovered this wonderful site. I have been keeping within my calorie and fat limits quite easily, however Im having trouble and am always going over on my sugar. I do not add sugar to anything, but its all coming from my 2 pieces of fruit and my milk on my weetbix for brekkie. So my question is, if the majority is coming from natural sugars (as a healthy diet consists of 2 fruit per day), should I just ignore the fact Im going over? I really cant see any other way around it as I dont like almond/soy/rice milk and as I work graveyard shifts, I find my banana and apple a godsend to keep me going through the night rather than grabbing something unhealthy! (PS I crave sugar around 2-3am when at work so have replaced the chokkie bar with my fruit).

If you don't have any medical conditions that force you to watch your sugar intake, I wouldn't worry about it.0

No I dont have diabetes or anything. Only medical problems I have is hypothyroidism and asthma. Because of my weight, everytime I see a new GP the first thing they do is check for diabetes and cholesterol and they are always shocked how good the results are lol. Can get a bit annoying after a while though when you go there with the flu but all they are focused on is the weight issue and checking stuff out that I already know is all good! Lol.0

Change your settings to track something else like fiber.0

I think the problem is more with added sugars and fruit juices/smoothies etc where the sugar reaches the blood faster. When you have it in a whole piece of fruit, the fibre slows it down and the energy (sugar) is released much slower keeping you full for longer. MFB doesn't differentiate between added sugars and those that are bound up in fruit/veg etc so you will have to calculate it manually if you are intrested in tracking it.0

Yes. Switch out the sugar tracker for fiber. You count sugar as carbs anyway, so if you are within your carb limit and getting enough fiber it's very unlikely you are eating excess "added sugar" (based on what's best for an overall nutritious diet).
Also, for weight loss what matters is calories. One of the main concerns those who limit added sugar have is that people will get excess calories or too little nutrient dense foods, and rather than the imprecise method of watching sugar I think someone who is tracking their diet can look at their diet overall. Your sugar consumption seems perfectly fine. Anyone who would say that 2 fruits plus some dairy is unhealthy is not rational on the topic, IMO.
