setting new goals after injury

I've recently been diagnosed with a stress fracture in my hip and am looking at 6 weeks of no running and then 4-6 weeks of rehabilitation (oh the joys...)

this means missing out on my spring marathon and possibly a June half-marathon

soooo, to keep my busy during my rest, does anyone have any advice on setting new goals after an injury lay off? I've never had an injury as serious/long as this so am feeling a bit lost with having to readjust all my goals and plans!

I used to average 30 miles a week, 2-3 x week weights and university netball

any tips/experiences/ideas are appreciated muchly!

    Ugh injuries are so hard for active people! I just got released two weeks ago from PT for a rotator cuff tear and after 10 weeks off lifting, I have to miss a my next strong(wo)man competition which was to be Feb 8th. So I totally feel your pain!

    When setting my fitness goals for 2015 I just proceeded like I had not been injured. I'm really hoping muscle memory will kick in and I will be back to my previous lifts very quickly.
    While recovering I just did what I could to stay active even if it meant help from other people or doing fitness related things that I usually wouldn't do. Like for 10 weeks I switched my focus more cardio and nutrition related, rather than weightlifting. And I used machines that I would typically not use (versus free weights).

  • Sorry to hear about your injury too!

    I can't do any exercise at the moment but am hoping to choose some races / training programs to start as soon as I am able.

    I guess what I'm looking for mainly are goals that get me back to where I was before while still giving me goal-posts and targets to hit :)
