I can't seem to find the right diet that I can stick to. The problem is I love food, I need help

I've just eaten smaller portions and lost weight. It's doable. I love food and cooking too. And I also made sure not to have too big a deficit - most people try to under-eat a lot and that's their downfall.0

It can be tough for sure. It sounds like you’re trying restrictive diets. The problem with those, as you’ve likely encountered, is that you feel deprived and you end up either quitting or binging because of that. I’m a big believer in flexible dieting. There are no “bad” foods that must be avoided. Instead, I encourage you to eat in accordance to your goals. Have specific calorie and macro goals that promote progress towards weight loss (I’m assuming that is your goal based on you posting in this part of the message boards). Be sure to adhere to your calorie and macro goals, but also get in your fruits, veggies, and fiber too. As long as you are doing that, if you can work in some treat foods that you like, DO IT! It’ll help you stay satisfied while you’re on your journey. That’s what I’ve done, and it works great.0

Try new things too! You'll find other lovely things that aren't bad. You can still love food and get fit/diet/eat well.0

Agree with those above; just eat within your calorie limits and work on making better choices as you go along and discover healthier options.
For me personally, a significant portion of my weight loss has been due to discovering the number of calories in my favorite foods and learning to make better choices.
Ie- a small fro yo with cookie dough can net 400 calories a serving, while a small frozen custard with cookie dough from my favorite place used to net me around 1,200 calories. Similarly, my favorite pizza used to net me around 1,600 calories, so I switched to another brand that nets me 440 and add a salad if I need a little more.
Small changes like those make a HUGE impact over time. If you add exercise into the mix and eat back up to 50% of calories burned, you'll be golden.0 -
terbusha said everything I would have said but better. I have not thought of myself as being on a 'diet' one time in the last 18 months, but I've dropped almost 70 pounds in that time frame simply by staying within my calorie budget and increasing my exercise level a bit.0

Read up on how others are losing weight. Look at their diaries and what they eat.
Write down all the reasons you want to lose weight followed by what it takes. Make a choice and decide whether you want to lose weight and be slim or carry on the same way you are. Knowledge will really help you get a better grasp on losing weight sensibly and consistently in the most effective way. Get smart and it can be considerably less painful and will have more chance of success.
You will need to make some sacrifices but the rewards are worth it.0 -
There is a lot of great advise here... Something I started is portion control. I meal prep on Sunday or Monday and this is when I weigh everything. I have salad dressing in my fridge ready to go, I have chicken and sweet potaote ready to go. It's fast food, homemade style.0

It's definitely tough, and something I'm working on too - I also love food! But I'm having fun finding healthier versions of stuff I love that give me the same satisfaction of the calorie-filled foods.

You can still love food, just be smarter about it. Tons of recipes online that cut calories, and there are lots of really low cal snacks you can have such as cucumber slices and low cal dips. Good luck!0
