Eat all the foods you normally eat just less of them.0

For weight loss, it doesn't matter WHAT foods you eat... Just eat what you like and make sure you stay in a deficit.0

^^^ yes - it doesn't work long term to put foods on "can't have" lists. You can find ways to make your favorite foods healthier. Budget for things you really like and go for it.0

The best thing is to just start logging your food. That will help you start to learn what has a lot of calories and what has less. It's not about cutting out any foods, but learning how to fit them into your goals.
For a general template of eating I like the Harvard healthy eating plate. Basically, you want a balance of protein food (e.g., meat) with your veggies/fruit, and starchy foods (potatoes, grains, corn), and some healthy fat at each meal.0 -

this.
I have noticed that when I eat simple carbs, I tend to keep eating. my sugar level is spiked, and my body demands MORE sugar to keep up with the upped insulin that my body is producing. I can do a quarter of a donut without any risk, but a full one, or even half of one will have me going back for more.
best of luck!0 -
Eat everything you always do, only in moderation, (caloric deficit).0

Thank you all! So as long as I don't eat too many calories i can eat as i use to?0

Glad I found this post. I was wondering the same thing. I feel like when I tell myself I cant have something. It makes me want to have it even more. So its only been a little while, but I feel I am already getting my portions under control. I never realized how much I was over eating until I started using MFP and logged my food.0

I still wonder about carbs though, are they a "danger" to your weight loss?0

Eat whatever foods you want.
It does not matter.0 -
Carbs are a staple in diets throughout the world. Some of the healthiest people in the world eat a foundation of carbs, such as Okinawan and Italian.
IF you have metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance, you may need to be more careful with carbs. I try to always eat moderate portions and balance with fiber/fat/protein any starchy or sugar foods I eat, such as grains, pasta, potatoes, and corn.
Regular activity/exercise also helps the body to use carbs effectively.0 -
carbs are part of food; they help your body process fat, which helps the body process protein. they all work together to keep you moving and grooving. google complex carbs and simple carbs for an idea of what's more likely to give you energy, and what's more likely to turn you into "the carb monster." knowledge is power!0

More to do with endorphins than insulin I would think. Unless you are diabetic?

when I researched it, the first pop-up answer was insulin. I watched a documentary on it once, and while the process stuck with me, the actual bodily-product did not. and I just googled the key-words. sorry if I mis-spoke. it's just whatever the body produces to break down sugars, and the more you consume, the more you produce and then the body expects more sugar to keep up with the flow of production. it was a really interesting documentary that got me thinking about what I eat.0
