Hi Guys,
I am trying to loose weight about 50+ lbs, I started exercising since past 2 weeks or so. My weight keeps fluctuating and practically returns to the original. I do elliptical about 30 mins a day and try eating within the goal.
Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Any pills or something?
Also would love to add some motivational friends here.
Thanks
~H

Buy a food scale and learn to use it. Accurately and consistently log everything you eat. Stay within the calorie goal, and eat back some of your exercise calories.
NO! Pills aren't necessary. All you need is a calorie deficit, and patience. It will happen.0 -

It is all about calories in/calories out. You have to weigh and log your food and make sure you are eating less than you burn. That's how it works - you cannot merely "try" to eat within your goal.

Log everything accurately. Use a food scale to make sure the amount you believe you're eating is correct. And be patient. If you only started exercising two weeks ago, you're probably holding onto water weight from that still.0

You're being a bit vague.
Out of the last two weeks, have you stayed within your goal or are you going over regularly? If you are going over, that's going to prevent you from losing.
You say it's "practically" returned to the original. Does that mean you've actually lost some weight or not?
Are you eating back your exercise calories? Many MFP listings overestimate, as do cardio equipment calculators. You should eat some back though so try for only half.
If you're new to exercise, it's pretty common to see those fluctuations because of water and glycogen retention in your muscles, that is part of the natural healing process. Basically if you're sore, you're likely to see a stall or slight gain on the scale. Water weigh in general can cause fluctuations and can be caused by high sodium foods and your monthly hormone cycle.
No pills - huge waste of money.0 -
Agree with above posters. You need to make sure you log everything accurately. You will do yourself no favors by underestimating what you eat and over estimating caloric burn with your workouts.
This is not a race. This is your life, and hopefully a very long one. Don't waste your time and money on any pill. Best of luck to you.0 -
Thanks Guys Good Suggestions. I think I need to have more patience and try reading more blogs here.0

Love my food scale-turns out a serving of some foods by weight are bigger than the volume measurement given, and some smaller, but the accuracy of weighing food is great! No more getting away with heaping tablespoons and other forms of cheating on the calories! Good luck to you. Week 2 here, and I know it works from past experience. That's why I chose this method again.0

@LeanbutNotMean44....what do you mean that I should eat less than I burn? does it mean that if I burn 440 calories on Elliptical how much can I eat?
Thanks Again guys0 -

Eat fewer calories than you burn - calories in, calories out.
How are calculating that you burn 440 cals on the elliptical?
