it is a part of bulking...deal with it...

or you can adjust your calories down ...
  • What are your macros? If you are eating a ton of fat, and not the right amount of protein and carbs for your body, that would make sense. Ideally, you should shoot to gain 2lbs/month max (24lbs/year) to minimize fat gains. You may be in too high of a surplus.

Gaining some fat is inevitable, and mine goes straight to my belly / waist. If think your approach is producing just fat gains, then either (1) you're wrong but just can't see it as well as the fat gains, or (2) your training program is wack.

Are you following an established strength and/or hypertrophy program, or are you winging it on your own?
  • If you are doing things right, fat gain should be minimal

I find that the more sugar / junk food .. ie ice cream .. the more the abdominal fat. As long as that is under control, no added abdominal fat.

Fat gain is inevitable. How much is the question.

I could / would argue that focusing too much on avoiding fat gains would be detrimental to a bulk. You don't need to go hog wild, but if your approach leads to minimal fat gains (whatever minimal means in this context) but also sacrifices muscle mass gains, then you're being inefficient.

I know how to cut, and how to cut pretty effectively (sparing as best I can muscle loss). And I don't think cutting is all that hard to do - whereas adding muscle mass is pretty damn hard. I'd much rather err on the side of maximizing hypertrophy at the expense of adding a bit of excess fat (which, again, I can cut), than not maximizing my gaaaiiinzzz. All depends on one's goals.

But I can say for sure that if I were 20 years old again, I'd be really pushing adding muscle mass even if it meant that I added a bit more fat than I might otherwise have.

    . . . junk food .. ie ice cream ..

    No sir. Just no.

[Not a comment on what works for you - just the labeling of ice cream as junk food]
