Question about P90X, does it really help?

Hi everyone,
I've seen many people talking about P90X and their progress seem well-developed. I'm thinking about taking it but I just wanna know from you guys who may have some ideas, information or suggestions about it.
My condition is now I live in a flat room which is quite small. Does it require lot of space to do?
What's happen if I cannot do it continuously for 90 days, I mean some day you may have something else to do outside (just in case)
Which one should I order, I see many sellers in Amazon with wide range of prices, some offer without nutrition booklet...is it fine?
( It consists of 13 DVDs, right?)

I'm a P90X graduate and am doing my 2nd round now and I LOVE the results! It is an intense workout system. You work different body parts everyday so your muscles get "confused" and more importantly, you won't get bored. It has been the only system that I've stuck with for this long. The only way to guarantee you get what you pay for, go directly and purchase through Beachbody because in actuality, Beachbody hasnt given any other retailer authority to sell their products. As far as keeping a regular schedule of completing 90 days, I'd say just try your best to keep up with the workout schedule provided with the purchase. If you miss a day or two here and there, it's no biggie. Just pick up where you left off and keep going. you will need hand weights, pull up bar or bands, yoga mat, and yoga block (if you need one). good luck!0 -
The books and guides are VERY Helpful, but they can be found online if you know where to look. Do a little searching and try to save yourself some bucks.

Hi! Lie down on the floor and pull your legs over as best you can into a lying "L" (twisted hips with both legs off to the side perpindicular to your chest). If you fit in that position you should be fine in terms of width. You will need your body length plus another 1/2 in terms of length. You will need a door way for a pullup bar. I travel for my work and do it out of a hotel room most days and I have enough room. In terms of making it work in your schedule, the workouts range from 45 minutes, 1 hour, 1 hour 15 minutes to the long one which is Yoga-X and it is 90 minutes. You can shake up the schedule to fit into your life schedule, but you should avoid back to back strength training days. It IS a commitment...so you have to make peace with that before you start. You have six days of week of workouts with an optional 7th day to either rest or do the X-Stretch routine (recommend doing X-Stretch, when possible).
I would order either a new copy from Amazon or directly from BeachBody.com and not from a reseller. You really should have the book as well as the nutrition guide. If you order from BB.com, you can have the option of spending an extra $9 for full replacement program on scratched or damaged DVDs which you CANNOT buy piecemeal.
There are 12 DVDs for the workouts and a 13th which is a introductory DVD that you really only have to watch once.
At a minimum, you will need a pullup bar that can be attached to a door, resistance bands or varied free weights, a good mat for Yoga and Plyo, and a Yoga block. Good to haves include an HRM, a thicker Plyo mat and good cross trainer shoes. Good luck on your P90X journey.0 -
Yes, it will definitely help. Just remember, P90X results come from what the individual puts into it. That being said, I'll throw in my two cents worth Buy it from Beachbody. I read about people who bought their "authentic" set elsewhere and the dvd's were scratched, they skipped or didn't play at all. You'll need a pull-up bar, dumbbells or the bands. An eight foot square area should work out fine. Make sure you have the mind set of not missing any days once you start. Things happen and if you miss a day, don't worry about it; just pick it up where you left off. I hope this may have helped and enjoy the program.0

I love the P90x workouts. Like others have said you get what you put into the workout. Its worth it if you're willing to make the effort.
Does anyone know how to put those workouts on the exercise log? I did not see them on there and I don't want to guess on the calories.0 -
P90X is not a magic workout that has never been thought up before. You can find all the exercises online, in books, on other dvd's and at the gym with a trainer.
P90X is however, a huge time saver if you don't want to go to the trouble of figuring all of that out yourself! I am in phase 3 of my first round and have seen a little bit of weight loss but quite a bit of inches lost. It's not touted as a weight loss program but more of a fitness program to get you into good shape. If you do the exercises to the best of your ability and are consistent, you will get into good shape!
I have about 70 pounds to lose but the reason I wanted to do the X was because I do taekwondo and needed to get into better shape to move forward. Weight loss is a desire but for me it's secondary.
I don't have a very large space to do the workouts but with a little coffee table shoving I've been able to do all of it. I try to keep to the schedule but sometimes life gets in the way. I always make sure I get my strength training days in and use the cardio days a little more flexibly. (Example: I do taekwondo twice a week so if I need to miss a day I just skip KenpoX or Plyo since TKD has a lot of the same stuff and it's still quite a cardio workout.)
For me, yes it's worth it. I can follow the plan and not waste a lot of time figuring it out. I know I'm covering all the major muscles and I have the DVD and book to help make sure my form is good. If I am in doubt I just look it up online. I have everything I need right here at home and for me that works very well. I couldn't afford to pay for a gym membership every month and the closest YMCA is 30 minutes away. With gas prices added to that it just made more sense for me to plunk down the money one time and just buy what I need as I go.
Sorry if I rambled but I've seen so many posts that say either "this is the best thing ever!" or "I hate all things Beachbody and you're wasting your money if you buy this garbage" that I just wanted to be clear about how it's worked for me. I guess what I wanted to say is, this is a decent program that can work well for you if it's what you need. I'm not a social exerciser and am pretty darn happy with the program because it's accomplishing what I bought it for, getting me in better shape so I can do better at TKD. Plus I'm enjoying all my new muscles!0 -
Just getting ready to start the intro program Power 90. I don't think I'm fit enough yet to endure the full P90X.
I DID get a copy of P90X and its waiting for me when I finihs the first phase.
I got mine via Craigslist, brand new in the factory sealed box with the books for $60.
I'm guessing they had some kind of deal where you buy one copy and get a second copy free. The girl I got it from said it was the extra set that came with her boyfriends copy and they only needed one.0 -

I still love P90X though it drives me crazy and I have never finished it. I don't have the upper body strength or equipment for quite a few of the moves in phase 2 and 3, so I usually get pissed and end up not finishing. I do still see results though and good ones! I am going to be starting again tomorrow, just doing phase 1 as if looped in addition to my regular workout until I get the muscle to do the rest of the program. Some day I will finish it! lol0

I don't have the upper body strength to do a lot of of the stuff in phase 2 or 3 but I try anyway and slowly I'm building my way up. Most of the push ups in phase 2 are done on my knees because I just can't do them on my toes. Those one armed pushups I'm not sure I even move when I'm doing them (and that's on my knees too! lol) I just figure I am where I am and if I keep pushing play I will slowly but surely progress. I'm two weeks from finishing my first round and all prepped to do another round right after I finish. I am determined.0 -

I have a HRM with a chest strap and wear that for each workout. I then take the calories burned and enter them into the database. I added my own (you know, where it says if you can't find a workout then add one to the database). That way I can account for which workout I did that day. Before I purchased the HRM, I just put the workouts in as high impact aerobics. The calorie counts are very close for me, but I like to be as accurate as possible.0
