Hey everyone! So lately I've been having a lot of time to do nothing and in this time I get bored and I turn to food for something to do, and I mean it's all fun and games until your jeans don't fit anymore and that's kind of the boat that I'm in :/ so I was wondering what some of your techniques are for beating cravings and not snacking when bored! Any input is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks :)

Hi :) One thing I try and do is plan my meals and snacks in advance and log them in my diary a day or so before. It seems to help me know what I've got planned ahead of time so I don't go planning something else. ;)

First starting out on here you likely won't get bored since logging takes some time and planning your workouts, challenges etc. Maybe take a walk or grab a book when bored? Maybe pick a hobby you haven't done for awhile that involves distraction and being away from food..that might help break the habit?

Love the ideas on pre-planning, weighing etc meals and snacks for your day. Make sure that you are well hydrated and not mistaking hunger for thirst, it's very common.

Fill in for bored times - Well the sky is the limit really. What about incorporating an exercise in there to go along with the new way of eating, it doesn't have to be hard core or long. Walking is a wonderful exercise, gets you out and about, if weather permits, maybe a workout DVD, crafts, art whatever, even perhaps thinking about courses and return to educational pursuits.

Distractions aside though will only get you so far.....if you are truly hungry, gone through your water other steps etc then maybe you are aiming for too high and your calorie intake needs adjusting. Sometimes we go for the lowest possible number MFP with the idea of losing the weight as fast as possible, slow and steady wins the race and patience will see you through.

Also make sure you get in adequate protein and fats as these help with longer satiety levels. Be kind to yourself everything in moderation, enjoy your treats, maybe just in smaller quantities than before don't make this road one that is all about denial and hard work.

    Good Luck, hope this helps.
