Looking for fellow new vegetarians

With the coming of 2015 I finally decided to commit to my diet change to vegetarianism. It was a rough first few weeks, but this is the first week I've been able to go completely vegetarian and I thought I would finally come back to better record my progress.
Also thought this would be a good place to find other new(and veteran) vegetarians for support and advice. So add me if you want.

Hiya I'm a veteran vegetarian, coming up on 22 years since I last ate meat (and was on and off for several years before that, but mostly vege). If you have any questions about ensuring you're getting enough protein etc please just ask. My diary is open if you want to take a look0

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. When I tried going vegetarian in the past, I would always get sick after a few weeks and I'm pretty sure low protein was the main cause.0

Tempeh is my new favourite thing (can't believe it took me this long to 'discover' it), really good source of protein. So are eggs.
You may want to take a multivitamin to keep your iron levels up also.0 -
Hey there, and welcome! Vegetarian for five and a half years now. The first two weeks are always the hardest, but if you stick it out it's so rewarding.0

My goal was to also go vegetarian with the beginning of the year. Hasn't really happened yet... I've stopped buying meat when grocery shopping and won't make it at home anymore, but I'm still eating it out and at other people's houses. It's a rough transition for me... it's just so tasty!0

I'm not a new Vegetarian either. Been one for about 5-6 years. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.0

I'll definitely add you. I've been a vegetarian for three years.0

I can believe it! This is my 3rd trying to make it stick. The first time I went about 2 weeks before I started to get sick. The 2nd time I had to stop because I had to move back with my parents. But I'm hoping the 3rd times the charm as I am finally making a life of my own.

I was lucky, I never really liked most meat and didn't eat a lot of it anyway, so it was an easy transition for me.0

I know how you feel. It's hard being a vegetarian in my family. So much meat! It's always the biggest part of the meal. It took so much time for me to get around the idea that vegetables could be center stage at dinner time.0 -

Meat has been such a big part of family meals. It was almost unthinkable that I would making the leap to vegetarianism at all in my life.0 -
I was really lucky to have one of those mums who didn't make me eat stuff I didn't like. She was also happy to eat vegetarian some of the time herself. Find yourself a good vegetarian cookbook (or even better free recipes online!), and also do some reading on healthy vegetarianism, combining proteins to ensure you're getting all your amino acids, that sort of thing - http://greatist.com/health/complete-vegetarian-proteins0

I was raised vegetarian (off and on vegan) and am primarily a vegetarian (I will eat soup with chicken stock and I have, in the past, resorted to atkins with chicken out of desperation to fit into bridesmaid dresses). My biggest source of protein is probably beans with rice or a tortilla (you need to mix beans with a whole grain to get a complete protein), closely followed by eggs.0
