Hey everyone! New to this but I'm very hopeful. I'm about to turn 35 and I have things to worry about that I never had to give a second thought to before. I used to be the "lucky stays skinny no matter what I eat" girl, but I have definitely grown out of that phase in my life. However that being said, I have never really had a reason to pay attention and learn how to eat properly. Sure I know healthy from unheathy but tracking, working out, dieting are all things I've never had to do. I'm currently about 30 pounds over my ideal weight and I'm trying to learn how to drop the weight, and make better life habits for myself. There is so much information out there however that it is very overwhelming and I don't know where to even begin. HELP!?

Murphy there are tools on MFP for tracking. Google is a good source of medical research on diet and I learn a lot watching doctors speak a medical conventions on Youtube.

I expect you are old enough to know web forum info can range from bad to worse. :)

    Welcome to MFP!

I am happy to help. I work with a group of fitness coaches -- happy to help you sift through the clutter of info. Sending friend request.
  • I am 33 with a thyroid condition and I can't loose weight even if I try. I just try to eat healthy cause I feel better. Healthy is a process. Maybe start with reducing fast food.
  • I hear you, I actually don't eat fast food. I had my gallbladder taken out in 2010 and gave up fast food. I also don't drink soda either, that's been cut out 15+ years. However you are right, that's a very good place to start for people.
  • Ellie, thanks so much! I appreciate anyone's advice/ help.
