Eat Clean Diet

Is anyone eating clean?

I am in the middle of reading Tosca Reno's book "The Eat-Clean Diet Recharged" and I'm very interested in eating clean and switching things up.

What are your experiences with weight loss and the "diet" in general?
Did you switch over all at once or little by little?
Do you eat 100% clean or do you still "cheat" by having white flours etc?

I am just looking for any insight into the lifestyle.

Check out The Gracious Pantry blog, she's got tons of clean eating recipes and has lost 50 something pounds with it. She's a member here as well.

I eat probably 75% clean on average and find that I'm really enjoying the taste and simplicity of unprocessed food. It also turns you into a label reader which is a plus!

I've read the book, but honestly I've found it a bit daunting. I'm trying to clean up my diet little by little, but I'm not a vegetable person so it's been hard. I think the hardest part for me is that I have certain meals that I eat almost daily (breakfast and lunch) that would not be considered clean, but I feel like they work well for me and I feel good after eating them. My toughest meal is dinner - it's hard to feed a family of four when you have one picky eater who is a 12 yo boy (aka the bottomless pit), one 11 yo boy who will eat anything but unfortunately has a tendency to gain weight, and a man who is eating low carb. It's very difficult to find meals that work for all of us, much less clean meals.

I've learned to eat clean through my Beachbody workout programs - I started with a "crash course" at first and then had to adjust my way through as I learned more and more about my nutrition. In January, my husband and I did a month long challenge of only eating off the top 2 tiers of Michi's Ladder (which is all non-processed, totally clean foods) - I wanted to prove I could do it....

Since then, I've found info on transitioning my way to a healthier way of eating. It's much easier to take it one step at a time and transition the way you eat over an 8-week period. In doing so, I've made the changes I need to make that will last a lifetime. It's not a diet... it's a way of life.

Here's the link to the nutrition transition if you want to know more about it: tinyurl.com/nutritiontransition

I agree, Michi's Ladder is a great tool :) I use it frequently when I'm trying to convert an old favorite recipe into something cleaner.

Thank you for posting Michi's Ladder that is not something that I have ever seen but it is definitely a great tool! The Eat Clean book I am reading now lists foods that are acceptable to eat etc but it's nice to see this list like this and see what is a carb / protein etc and what tier it is in!

I am definitely going to print it and start meal planning around it!
