Drinking water and naked drinks

Anyone else become addicted to having a water bottle with them at all times? How exactly does water help with weight loss? Do naked drinks such as the green machine help with weight loss too?

I am a beverage-aholic! It doesn't matter whether it is water, diet soda, or tea. I am always drinking something.0

I am bev-aholic. I carry something 100% of the day. If I am in the car and forgot my drink or did not have one, first stop at the gas station.
I bought a purse specially to fit my bottled drink... How crazy is that...LOL0 -
The only reason drinks like water and <low cal Snake Oil of your choice> "work" is because we are not pouring a 1000 calorie Coffee McMilkshake down our gullets, or an 800 cal Supersized Big Gulp Bucket O' Soda down the pie hole ... and the low cal / no cal liquid takes up space that food might otherwise occupy.
There is no magic to it. Just a calorie optimized packing problem.
I prefer Coffee for my purposes but ... yeah - probably a half gallon or more of coffee a day to do my part for the thread.0 -
Be careful with the Naked juices, and other smoothie/juices, they can be complete calorie bombs.
Water helps me to feel more full, and being properly hydrated has done wonders for my skin.0 -

Most of the "Naked" juices aren't all that low-cal.
140cals for 8oz serving and the smallest bottles are roughly 2 servings. (based off of the Green Machine drink)

I agree about the Naked drinks.... They pack a large amount of calories for a beverage! I found myself drinking them all the time a while back and I swear I gained a little weight. They are pretty much pure fructose. I think they can be helpful in moderation or if you use one as a meal/snack replacement. But I wouldn't drink them in place of water or tea.0
-
I WISH I were that way. I am never, EVER thirsty. On my Outlook at work, I have a reminder set to ping me at different intervals reminding me to drink. I DO get my water in and more, but that's because of conscious monitoring.0

As compared to a Coffee Flavored McMilkshake?
Or a Big Gulp soda?
They are indeed, my friend, Low Cal.

2. you're essentially comparing apples to cheesecake here. no *kitten* that the Naked juices are low-cal compared to a McFlurry. But for what those drinks are, they aren't low cal and taste like *kitten*. Id' rather eat the frigging fruits & veggies in there. But 16oz of fruit juice/smoothie for 280cals is NOT low-cal or filling. One could make a smoothie at home using frozen fruit, almond milk, greek yogurt, ice, etc for less calories and less money.
The US FDA has a definition of "low calorie" and Naked juice does NOT fit it.

Same here! I think it's genetic, my whole family is like this. We always have to have something to drink with us at all times. I thought we were just strange.0 -

I drink the Naked Green Machine juice every morning for breakfast, with a banana. It works for me. It gives me some extra veggie servings and keeps me full until lunch. It is kind of high in calories, but it's all I really eat for breakfast, so I guess that's okay. But to each their own.0

That was kinda *exactly* my point.
When you're eating apples, your not eating a cheesecake, right?
Go read what I wrote in my first post on this thread, my non-friend... I'll wait ...

Girls ! Girls ! You're both princesses !0

Yup. But I have Sjogren's which is basically defined as chronically dry eyes and dry mouth, so I'm literally never not thirsty. I stick to lemon water most of the time, but if I'm feeling poorly you can definitely find me on the couch with a big bowl of soup and giant bottle of Bolthouse Farms mango juice. Massive calorie bomb, but so yummy.0

I wish I could post a pic of my cup.
I have a 32 oz mason jar style cup that stays filled with black tea and stevia.
Say what you will, it's a hell of a lot better than Naked, Frappe's and McFlurries,
all natural and -0- calories.
(I'm a recovering diet coke addict, I drank tons diet coke, 3-5 32 oz's a day, now I'm the same way, except currently down to 2 teas with 1 large glass of water a day. Yay improvement! One baby step at a time!!!)0 -
Do you reckon the more water and drinks I have the more my systems are flushing the bad stuff out?0
-
-
I know drinking more water flushes out excess sodium0

You might like this article on drinking water: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/clark2.htm
(note that nothing can replace pure water--not even tea)
"Water helps remove toxins from the body, in particular from the digestive tract. Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study."0 -
I agree with using caution when it comes to the naked drinks. When I first discovered them I would have one every day and I needed up gaining 5 pounds in a couple weeks. They are marketed as healthy and I guess they are compared to something like soda, but they lack the fiber to fill you that the fruit and vegetables contain in their natural form.0
-
As part of a meal or a meal replacement I guess the Naked Drinks would be OK but I really prefer to eat my calories, not drink them - unless it's a home made green smoothie that packs way more nutrients in a lot more liquid for a FRACTION of the calories...
I do enjoy drinking water. Once I get back into it that is. When I'm on a soda kick the only thing I want to drink is Dr. Pepper. And no water. Which is part of the reason I have 100+ pounds to lose - way too many calories per day from soda and other sugary things. I have to take a few days off and drink just water (or coffee/tea and water that is) before I am back in "tune" and am happily reaching for the water instead of Dr. Pepper.0 -

It's not genetic. There is no "gotta drink my cals all the time" gene. It's a habit. Your family does it and you learned to copy them as a child.
