Women. Help! It is that time of the month. I have had a sinus headache today and been in bed all day (also from working 2 very long shifts the last two days- so I didn't get any extra calories today). I have eaten through all but 22 calories left and am starving. What do you do to make it easier when it is your time of the month?

ginger lemon tea w maple syrup...so soothing, grate real ginger, mix a paste with fresh squeezed lemon and drizzle in maple syrup to taste, add piping hot water and brew for 20 min. Also good first thing in the a.m. as a detox.....make sure it is sweet enough! low cal and so relaxing, detoxing everything...if you have enough calories left, have a homemade ginger snap with it. enjoy:)0

Probably best to plan around your cravings and allow extra calories during that week.0

I try to overload on water because I know the choices I'm making are full of salt. And I force myself to the gym, because I know it will improve my outlook. I never step on the scale until after - depressing, otherwise. And if I need a pretzel or some M&Ms, I'm probably going to have them and forgive myself. But ... this month I tried something new. I bought Planters mixed nuts, which felt just bad enough ... and I ate Lifesavers peppermints when I would normally be elbow-deep in a pounder bag of M&Ms. I lost two pounds this week - so that was pretty cool.
You didn't ask this, but I thought I'd share from experience: I got a stress fracture of my right hip during a perfect storm: during cycle (low iron), poor nutrition and not enough food. Doc said I can't afford to play around with that any more (at age 43). If you are on your cycle, be careful with all the pounding you do in the gym or on the streets - make especially sure you have enough protein to do what you're asking your body to do!0 -
During my time of the month, i tend to eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the say. This way i dont have to go too long in between eating, and i can have my last bit of calories about an hour or so before bed, making it easier to make it to the next morning.I end up feeling less hungry that way.0

The last paragraph of your post really hit home to me. I am 41 and on iron pretty much all the time for anaemia associated with heavy periods. I never considered the damage to my bones...... Please eat and nourish your bodies ladies x
