has anyone lost weight without exercising
I have an illness which stops me from exercising I managed 5000 to 6000 steps per day max and I am concerned this could stop me from losing weight?

You can absolutely manage to lose weight without exercise. Many people on MFP do it. You just have to make sure calories in are less than calories out and be accurate with your logging. Maybe you could ask a trainer to put together a routine for you that allows for whatever limitations you have if you want to incorporate exercise.0

Absolutely - lots of people can, have and do!
Whenever you've got physical health issues and are looking to lose weight, it's always best to see a doctor beforehand - they can advise you on the best plan of action that will be specific to your health problems.
I'd definitely recommend going and seeing an nutritionist who can find out your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) - this is basically how many calories/energy your body burns through living. You can use this to tailor your dietary habits so that it is specific to you.
Good luck, I hope you achieve your goals - you can do it0 -
Thank you for all your advise just hearing what you all have to say gives me motivation0

If you're managing 5000-6000 steps per day, then clearly you are capable of some exercise. People in a wheelchair would love to be able to take thousands of steps per day, and even many of them manage to get in adapted or modified exercise.
I don't say this to be mean, but just to point out that 'exercise' can mean a lot of things. Even if you can't deadlift 200lbs or run a marathon, there are probably forms of exercise that you can do. I don't know the details of your illness or what your limitations are, but if it's something you're interested in pursuing, talk to your doctor and see if you can work out a program that's within your abilities.
If not, like everyone else sad, just eat less.0 -
What a rude cheeky indivdual.

There was nothing rude nor cheeky in that post. Actually, it looked like solid advice. These forums will disappoint you if you don't take what's given at face value. No, you don't need to exercise. You do need to create a calorie deficit to lose weight, eat less and move more or either one alone is up to you. Good luck.0
