Weight loss is much more about what you're eating than the exercise you're doing. You can't outrun a bad diet.

That said, the best exercises are the ones you like because you're more likely to stick with it. Walking is great exercise, running is better. If you have a bike, go on a ride. Have access to a pool? Swim laps. There are lots of free workouts available on Youtube, too.

walking...it's a great place to start working on your fitness...it's where I started a couple of years ago when I wanted to get back into fitness.

Also, your weight loss is going to be largely predicated on your energy (calorie) consumption, not your exercise.

Look at it this way...I train like there's no tomorrow...I can lose weight, maintain weight, and gain weight all the while training like I do...the difference between the three outcomes is my energy consumption; my exercise doesn't change.

I tried a whole bunch of things until I settled on a few I enjoy. What sorts of group programs does your local community center offer? Also keep in mind that even introverts can be active. There are plenty of solitary sports like running.

Monitor your calorie intake to lose weight. Exercise to feel great doing it.

Calorie consumed and calories burned is the most important thing. Have you set up your goal and logging with MFP?

A simple low impact and inexpensive exercise is walking. Like the shoe company say's, just do it!
