Hypnotherapy

Have any of you used hypnotherapy to lose weight, or for anything else? I'm thinking of becoming a hypnotherapist and I would love to know how people found it.

There are two reasons I'm thinking of this. Firstly, I'm a huge believer in mind over matter, and feel I have been blessed with the ability to control my behaviour, especially eating, when necessary. I know that our minds can play tricks on us though, and I would love to help others to get past these tricks.

Secondly, a good friend of mine said she beat anorexia thanks to hypnotherapy, and if I could save one person's life that way it would be amazing.

I believe we have to do these things ourselves, but would love to help people on their way.

What do you think?

Did hypnosis to stop smoking. Started up again within 4 hours after finishing the class.

    Eek!

One of my friends had a huge success, one didn't. I'm surprised more people haven't commented. As two of my friends have tried it I thought many others must have too.

My best friend studied hypnotherapy for her birthing class. She said that if her support person in the delivery room hadn't been so erratic that she would have made it all the way through labor, however as the case is she was able to make it half way. She only had good things to say about the program she subscribed to though!

I quit smoking using self-hypnosis CD's...listened to them for 6 months straight, daily, then I quit and haven't smoked since.

I've been doing the same thing with weight-loss. I listen to a variety of self-hypnosis weight-loss and self esteem CD's every night.

A friend of mine studied hypnosis in medical school for providing alternative pain control for patients, he's had success with it.

    I believe in it!

    good luck!

I had an amazing success with hypnotherapy when I was living in Italy...I visited a specialist and also listened to his CDs to go to sleep at night, and lost 90 pounds in three months. I felt amazing. It was insane. I went from a size 18 in February 2009 to a 6 in May 2009. But then I moved back to the States, gave up the CDs, and resumed my unhealthy relationship with the couch (and a size 12 pair of jeans--blech). LOL.

I've just started again...hoping to see some success again as well, now that I've also picked back up with my healthy eating and regular exercise. I found that when I was going to the hypnotherapy, it didn't really work any magic or anything, it just helped with my self-esteem and made me look at myself and my food in a new, more positive light.

    Good luck with your goals!
