getting back after sports injury

Tore my ACL in September and sports physio had me do strict rest for about two months until the swelling went down completely, then went away for the month in December and have had zero motivation to do anything since getting back. I've actually lost weight from the inactivity, unfortunately that means my muscles are going soft
I've been cleared to use the exercise bike (boring beyond belief) and now am supposed to start strengthening it back up again before surgery. Is it bad I almost feel embarrassed to be stuck using the little barbells?
I just want to be back on the field, or at least in a squat rack. Arm days are getting a little outta hand...
anyone else get super unmotivated when you cant do the exercises you want to do?

Wow, nice guns! What's your sport?
I'm primarily a runner, and a road cyclist in season. So when I'm injured, I don't always love the alternatives, but I'm in the "ANYTHING is better than nothing" camp. Ugh, even pool running.
Can you do intervals on the bike at all, or are you just supposed to spin lightly? I can't stand stationary bike/bike trainer for steady Zone 2 stuff, even with Netflix, but intervals or a spin class-type thing make the time pass nicely.0 -
my main sports were soccer and lacrosse, along with weight training. Injury happened during a game of rugby though. I'm supposed to do steady low resistance bike for cardio. I should get the bike out and start cycling outdoors again. My mind just makes too many excuses and I default to laying in bed like a depressed slug.0

I hear ya. Its easy for me to slip in to the "I'll never get where I want to be.." state. I have fractures in my low back and its a real pain finding anything I can do routinely. I just do want I can when I can. And really at this point you just have to be patient. Can you do stability ball work? It's kind of fun.0
